Alexander von Stackelberg has established himself as a first-rate “Spieltenor” having appeared in many of the world’s leading opera companies including the Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Komische Oper Berlin as Norman/Lucia Di Lammermoor, Basel in Die Soldaten, Bayrische Staatsoper in Sansibar, Bonn in Lady Macbeth of Mzensk and as Goro/Madama Butterfly, the Royal Opera House Wallonie as Tchekalinsky/The queen of spades, Grand Théâtre de Genève as Monsieur Triquet/Eugen Onegin, Don Basilio/Le nozze di Figaro, Scaramuccio/Ariadne auf Naxos, as Harfoboj, Skladatel and Miroslav in The adventures of Mr. Broucek, as Shapkin and Kedrill in From the house of the dead – a role he sang at Teatro Real de Madrid.

Noticed for his exceptional stage talent and his top C, he made his debut as The Drunkhard and Zinovi in Lady Macbeth of Mzensk in Teatro Real de Madrid repeated in Teatro di San Carlo Napoli under the baton of M. Rostropovitch, then as The young man in Teatro Massime di Palermo, in Die lustige Witwe in Bologna, in Adrianna Lecouvreur and as The Policeman/The Nose in Lausanne – a role which he repeated at the Staatsoper Berlin and Amsterdam.

Alexander von Stackelberg made his debut at the Scala de Milan in his signature role The Drunkhard in Lady Macbeth of Mzensk, and has since repeated the role at the Opera de la Bastille in Paris.

Alexander von Stackelberg’ recent engagements include The Nose, The cunning Little Vixen, Lady Macbeth of Mzensk at the Netherlands Opera Amsterdam, the role of Monostatos/Die Zauberflöte at La Fenice in Venice, Katya Kabanova at Antwerpen Opera, the roles of Trabuco/La Forza del destino, Piet/Le grand macabre and as Gastone/La Traviata at Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels; as Tchekalinsky/The queen of spades at Opera de Monte Carlo, in Mozart and Salieri as Mozart at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the roles of Papiol and Trouvère in Re Orso at the Opéra Comique.

Highlights of Alexander von Stackelberg’ most recent assignments at Opera de la Bastille have included The Drunkhard in Lady Macbeth of Mzensk,Graf Albert/Die tote Stadt, Ser Toldo/Francesca da Rimini (R. Zandonai) under the baton of D. Oren, staged by G. Del Monaco in which he partnered R. Alagna. The Netherlands Opera Amsterdam has invited him to create the tenor role in the world-premiere staging of Dog’s Heart (A. Raskatov) in the role of Sharikov. Moreover he has sung the title role of The Nose in the production at Opéra de Lyon and at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.

Upcoming engagements in the next seasons also include productions of Gastone/Manon Lescaut and Rustighello/Lucrezia Borgia at La Monnaie de Bruxelles, Die Zauberflöte in Toulon, Astrologer/The Golden Cockrel in Bergen, Offizier/Die Soldaten at Komische Oper Berlin.

Alexander Kravets zählt zu den herausragenden Charakter- und Spieltenören seines Faches. Er verkörpert diese Partien an den führenden internationalen Häusern weltweit.

Neben anderen Partien ebnete ihm seine nahezu konkurrenzlose Interpretation des “Betrunkenen” (Lady Macbeth von Mzensk), eine der anspruchsvollsten Partien des Charakterfaches, den Weg zu einer internationalen Karriere. Er sang diese Partie u.a. an der Scala di Milano und der Opera de la Bastille Paris.
Ebenso verkörperte er die, aufgrund zahlreicher Extremtöne beinahe unsingbare Partie des Polizeiinspektors (Nase) an der Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, den Opernhäusern Lausanne, Nantes, Anger und als 2. Besetzung an der Metropolitan Opera New York.

2013 interpretierte er u.a. am Teatre de la Monnaie in Brüssel die Partien des Gastone (Manon Lescaut) und des Rustighello (Lucrezia Borgia). An der Metropolitan Oper in New York die Partie des Polizisten (Die Nase), an der Oper Toulon den Monostatos.

Zukünftige Engagements werden ihn an die Opera de Nice (Pong), die Komische Oper Berlin (Offizier/Die Soldaten), an das Théatre de la Monnaie Brüssel und die Oper Bergen mit der Partie des Astrologen/Der Goldene Hahn) führen.
